Doctors recommend one sleeps at most two (2) if not
three (3) hours after super. This is not only nutritionally important but goes

I am not literally saying when you have your super at
18, you should sleep at 21 hours, I know you might be like me in some way,
still have to organize and revisit your day; examine yourself, what did you
plan to do and did not do? what was not listed on your to-do list but you
accomplished it or it failed. As if this is not too much beating on yourself,
you still have to make an agenda for tomorrow. You want time as well for
Whatsapp or respond to your e-mails or direct messages in your dm. with all
this up in your head, are you sure your body is ready to rest, won’t you end up
having Insomnia?
Insomnia
Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which you have trouble
falling and/or staying asleep. Do you have days when you lie on the bed and you
go up to 2 in the morning without getting any sleep, 4 and you still are wide
awake, nichani aii?
You ask yourself, is it the dragon, or kunfu I took in the
afternoon? Trust me its none of those, you just went to bed at the wrong time. We
know you are bachelor or bachelorette and you can eat at any time you deem fit,
so you knock off from work at 8 in the evening, wash your pots and do the other
chores, lol who does that, I know right.
Anyway by the time you finish cooking
its 30 past 9 in the evening and you are already feeling fatigued. So you
hammer your heavy super filled with fat and calories, you try to stay up on Facebook
or WhatsApp but unfortunately, one hour later you fall flat on the bed. And you
start spinning around like the bottle we use to make a dough hahaha.
That my dear is what we call insomnia, failing to
sleep or staying awake for more than the usual hours at night.
Foods that are bad before super
It doesn’t matter if it’s just a midnight snack or
simply your late dinner after a busy day, one needs to pay particular attention
to how much time should pass before going to bed after eating and the symptoms
you are likely to experience which can be including insomnia and nighttime
heartburn, if you don’t wait long enough before going to sleep.
Heartburn
Heartburn is
a burning pain in the chest, felt strongly just behind the breastbone. The pain
is often worse after eating especially in the evening, or when lying down or
bending over. Those who experience heartburn at night usually find that it is
painful and gets in the way of one’s good sleep.
There are a few common causes of heartburn at night,
which include consuming particular foods rich in cholesterol or fat, eating too
close to bedtime – 1 hour before sleeping, and taking certain prescription
medications.
Space between eat and sleep
As a general rule prescribed by health practitioners
and nutritionists, one is expected to wait for about three hours between your
last meal and bedtime.
This is important for proper digestion to occur and
the contents of your stomach to move into your small intestine. This usually
helps to prevent problems like heartburn at night and even insomnia: the two of
which I mentioned above.
By allowing this gap, this will reduce the
likelihood of heartburn symptoms. Lying down may cause the contents of the
stomach to reflux into the esophagus, leading to heartburn or GERD symptoms.
This is more likely to occur if the stomach has not fully emptied by bedtime.
What I am actually talking about is that food must
leave your stomach before you fall asleep. It is argued that the body is
constantly at work but digestion has a full stop to it, once you fall asleep,
you put a full stop at the end of digestion.
Finally
You are also much less active in the evenings and at
night, which means that your body is more likely to store the calories you
consume late at night as fat, rather than burning them as energy.
